Waco police have located the vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run crash that left one person dead on December 8.

Officials say the accident happened around 6 p.m. Sunday, December 8, in the 100 block of Waco Drive when a red-colored Dodge Magnum station wagon was involved in a crash before driving off. The victim in the other vehicle was killed as a result. She has now been identified as Norma Valdez of Waco.

Due to the numerous tips officers received from the community, detectives have now recovered the Dodge Magnum that they believe was used in the accident. The vehicle has been impounded and is being processed for evidence. Detectives have also developed a “person of interest” in the case and anticipate interviewing that individual.

Police want to thank the citizens for stepping up and doing the right thing in assisting them in locating the vehicle, which in turn can ultimately lead to an arrest of the suspect in the case.

No other information will be released at this time as the case is on-going.
