Waco, TX — Waco Police are investigating a drug deal that went south, and ended with a Coryell County man dead in the street.
On Saturday night around 10:30 p.m, Waco Police responded to a shooting at the Lafayette Apartments at 2503 Ethel Avenue.
Officers arrived to see Leslie David Lee, 44, with several gunshot wounds to the head and neck area.
Officers' initial investigation revealed that Lee and a female arranged a drug deal.
During the deal, two black men approached the couple with drawn handguns.
Police believe Lee attempted to pull out his own handgun before he was shot to death.
The men left the scene and police later took in the female for questioning.
“We’ve interviewed her and found out exactly what happened. She’s been very cooperative and forthcoming with us so far about what occurred and why they were there," said Sgt. Patrick Swanton of Waco PD. "How they were related and how they all knew each other will come to play in the investigation.”
