Shortly after midnight Thursday morning, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the North Waco area.

Someone saw several people stealing his car and gave chase.

During the chase a third vehicle attempted to intervene keeping the victim from chasing his stolen car.

Suspects however abandon the stolen car and shortly after, police located the “intervening vehicle” leading them to the discovery of an illegal “Auto Chop Shop”.

Officers were able to locate the “intervening” suspect vehicle in the 3900 block of North 20th. They found the vehicle, a black Ford Mustang, was stolen previously in the Waco area and had on it fictitious plates.

Our Auto Theft Detective was called to the scene to assist Patrol Officers and during the investigation, we were able to arrest and charge, h/m Rodolfo Cruz (dob 4-3-88) for two counts of Theft. Cruz was also identified as the driver of the “intervening” vehicle.

Three stolen vehicles were recovered from the back yard of 3900 N. 20th along with a large amount of other car parts to include doors, hoods, bumpers, engines, transmissions and various heavy tools.

The investigation continues and additional arrests may occur.
