WACO -- Waco Police are cracking down on illegal gambling in the city and are warning businesses they will not go undetected.

Wednesday afternoon police raided the "What's up? Smoke and Groceries" store on the 3500 block of 19th street and arrested Hasan Ghithan, 27.

Officers confiscated 16 gambling machines, marijuana and 3,200 dollars in cash.

This after another bust on the "House of Hookah" on W. Waco drive back on August 2nd.

Two more men were arrested and officers seized 12 gambling machines along with 15,000 dollars in cash.

Waco police tell us this is only the beginning.

"We know that there are others in town right now, we hope that this serves as warning that we're going to do our best to shut you down," Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton with Waco Police Department said.

The Waco PD Drug Enforcement Section had been working on these cases for several months and believe there will be more raids in the future.

The police are out of their minds. These people enjoy gambling and this is what they have chosen to do for a living. If we take these people out of the game rooms, more than likely they are going to be out in the streets doing a more intense and worse type of crime which will cause harm to people. This is insane.
