Waco police seize 16 gambling machines, drugs, cash in raid

A Waco business was raided Wednesday evening for operating as an illegal gambling establishment.

At 3:30 p.m., police conducted a search warrant on "What's Up? Smokes & Groceries" located on the 3500 block of 19th Street. The business had been allegedly using eight-liner machines for gambling. 

During the raid, officers arrested Hasan Ghithan, 27, and seized 16 gambling machines, a small amount of marijuana, a surveillance system and about $3,200.

This is the second raid the Waco Police Department has conducted in the past several weeks on Illegal gambling establishments.

The first took place at "House of Hookah" located on the 2500 block of  West Waco Drive on August 2. Tawil Hana, 34, and Mohammad Ikreiwish, 33, were taken into custody. During the search, officers seized 12 illegal gaming machines and about $15,000.
