City of Waco Press Release — Many area homeowners used the 3-day weekend to catch up on yard work, and for many, that meant collecting brush and downed limbs caused by last month’s damaging storm activity. The City of Waco Solid Waste Services Department is continuing to offer extended hours and collection operations in order to pick up limbs and brush piles.
As of today, Solid Waste Services has hauled 789 tons of brush since June 24, handling 450 open work orders, with 800 new work orders pending. Solid Waste is running five days per week and a half-day on Saturdays to process the backlog. The department estimates a 2-3 week delay in closing out the open work orders.
The City’s Solid Waste Department asks that citizens be patient while crews continue to work extended days and hours to collect all of the debris from the June storms. If a citizen has placed brush at the curb for pickup and not called in a work order, the department requests that customers please call (254) 299-2612 so the address can be placed on the pickup list.
