Waco police arrested a woman Friday afternoon after she reportedly attacked an officer who was trying to arrest her for stealing.

According to Waco PD, the incident happened around 1:45 p.m. Friday when officers responded to the Target store, located at 5401 Bosque Avenue about a theft. Officers discovered that Tamara Sims, 33, had been stealing phone cards from Target. A Waco PD officer attempted to arrest Sims in the parking lot, and she fought with that officer. Sims hit the officer in the face during the struggle and also caused the officer to receive a large scratch to his arm. The officer was then forced to use his taser to be able to take control of Sims, where she was arrested and transported to jail.

Sims is charged with theft under 50 dollars and Assault on a Public Servant. The officer was treated for his injuries at the scene by ETMC.
