Lacy Lakeview Police Department is looking for two men accused of attempting to rob a couple in the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn, located off of Interstate 35 North.

According to the police Chief John Truehitt, a call came in just after noon Thursday about two black males, wearing ski masks, who attempted to rob a male and female. Truehitt says witnesses claim one of the men “brandished a gun” after approaching the couple. The two men then allegedly fled in a vehicle.

Truehitt says police have had trouble getting information from the male victim, who was apparently leaving the hotel with his girlfriend at the time of the incident. Truehitt also says the incident is bizarre in the fact that there was a December 18, 2012 incident, similar in nature, which occurred in Waco.

“It does appear to be related to another crime. We are looking for the car and the men,” said Truehitt.

Waco Police, Truehitt says, considered the December 18 incident a burglary of a habitation. During the December situation, the victims, who reside together, were approached at their residence in Waco.

“This is not a random act,” said Truehitt. Truehitt insists there should not be a concern of safety around the hotel. "The people at the Fairfield Inn have been just fantastic. They’ve helped in every way that they can.”

Truehitt says his department is working closely with Waco PD to piece together the missing pieces to the two crimes. At this point, police are looking at the December 27 incident as an aggravated assault and not a robbery. And, police are still looking for the two men, who are considered persons of interest.

Truehitt says the men were last seen driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, maroon in color, bearing the license plate 437JCB.

If you have any information on the crime, contact the local police department.
