A postal worker in Texas could be out of a job after complaints about a sign in the window of her mail truck.
We'll tell you what rule officials say she's broken-next.
West Columbia, TX
A Texas postal worker's job hangs in the balance after complaints about a sign in the window of her mail truck.
Mary Benton tells us what officials have to say about the rule she's broken.
When it comes to delivering the mail, postal workers are praised for doing their job in rain, sleet or snow.
But one postal worker is in hot water after she was spotted driving on her mail route with an Obama - Biden sign on the dashboard
"I don't care whose sign it was. It was wrong. It doesn't make any difference, and it doesn't make any difference what color the letter carrier was."
The incident was reported last week.
Sources the postal employee was given the political sign by someone along her route and she planned to take it home at the end of the day.
"Is that against the rules to have an Obama-Biden Poster?"
"...most definitely. Most definitely against the rules..."
The acting manager of the West Columbia post office says the letter carrier is still delivering mail while the incident is under investigation.
"Anything of that nature at this point in time.. very critical."
"What kind of complaints?"
"Would rather not comment."
The post office released this statement, describing the letter carrier's actions....as a "clear violation of the hatch act and postal policy."
The hatch act specifically says a federal worker may not engage in political activity and may not distribute or display campaign materials.
Some residents are torn over whether the employee should be disciplined for the Obama-Biden sign.
"This is America. You have a right to say what you want. You have an opinion."
Officials say it could take weeks before the letter carrier will find out whether she will be suspended or fired.
