Killeen, TX — A two-year-old is in critical condition after nearly drowning Tuesday morning in Killeen.
At 9:06 a.m., police were dispatched to 3509 Soloman Drive to reports of a little girl who had been found unresponsive in a swimming pool.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man performing CPR on the child in the front yard. Emergency crews continued CPR as they took the toddler to a nearby hospital. She was then flown to Scott and White Children's Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators were able to determine the mother and child were in the backyard when the mother went inside momentarily. When she went back outside, she found her daughter in the family swimming pool. She immediately removed her daughter and began calling for help, when a man, who was jogging by the house, heard her cries for help. He immediately began CPR until emergency crews made it to the home.
The child is currently in the Scott and White Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in critical condition. The victim's name has been withheld at this time due to her age.
This case continues to be investigated and information will be provided as it becomes available.
