McLennan County, TX — Unemployment rates are on a steady to decline across Texas, especially here in Central Texas in the past months.
According to the Texas Workforce, more than 36-thousand nonfarm jobs were added in the state during October alone. Ten out of 11 major industries in the state have grown over the last year. The unemployment rate for Waco and McLennan County, in October this year, was 5.9 percent. That’s down 1.3 percent from last year.
“The local economy has been experiencing some slow growth over the last year, and we’re really please with that,” said David Davis, Operations Manager for Heart of Texas Workforce Solutions.
The Trade, Transportation, and Utilities industry is seeing the fastest growth. Education and Health Services, along with government jobs are still the largest employers in McLennan County.
