BRYAN, TX — A heads up Bryan drivers. There's a traffic switch you need to be aware of for the weekend.
TxDOT’s contractor will be working overnight Sunday to restripe the lanes on Briarcrest Drive from Kent Street to SH 6.
This work will shift the lanes to the south side of the roadway to provide a safety buffer for construction operations that will be occurring on the north side of the roadway for approximately the next six months.
The new striping will not change the number of lanes available to motorists. Two lanes will remain open in each direction as well as the existing turn lanes.
Workers will re removing the old striping and placing new pavement markings from 2pm on Sunday to around 6am on Monday morning. If this work in not completed in one night, work will resume on Monday night beginning at 7pm and be complete by Tuesday 6am.
TxDOT asks drivers to avoid this area during these changes if possible. If traveling through the project area is necessary, please be alert for construction personnel in the roadway and be prepared for possible delays.
This work is part of a $4.7 million-dollar-project contracted to Knife River-South Corporation of Bryan, Texas. The project includes adding turn lanes, a center median and improving sidewalks. The entire project is anticipated to be complete in late of August of 2013.
