Waco, Tx — A Waco man is in jail after biting an officer's finger, resisting arrest, and biting his mother in the face.
According to the police report, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at 2101 Daughtry Road, on January 9 at 5 p.m. Officers were in the process of arresting the suspect, Richard Allen Butler, 27, on Family Violence charges when Butler attacked the officers. Butler allegedly bit one of the officers on his index finger, crushing the bone and nearly severing the tip of the officer’s finger.
The officers had been called to the home by the suspect’s 11-year-old daughter, who witnessed Butler attacking his wife and mother. During the assault, Butler strangled and bit his mother and would not let his wife or mother leave the room. Butler also refused to let the victims call police. Witnesses told police that Butler had been drinking and also smoking synthetic marijuana.
Responding officers were attempting to take Butler into custody for biting his mother in the face, causing a severe laceration to her nose and restraining both his mother and wife in a bedroom, when the officer was bitten as well. Butler was demanding that officers shoot him and was eventually taken into custody, after being tased. Butler's
47-year-old mother and the injured officer were taken to the hospital for treatment. After being medically cleared, Butler was taken to the McLennan County Jail and is charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Family Violence Assault/Strangulation, Interference with an Emergency Phone Call, Unlawful Restraint, and Resisting Arrest.
