McLennan Community College’s Corporate Training department has received a $1.3 million Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission to train employees at local health care centers.
Texas Workforce Commissioner Ronny Congleton presented the checks today at the Northwood House at MCC to the college and its partners in the grants: Falls Community Hospital and Clinic, Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, and Providence Healthcare Network.
The grant will be used to upgrade the skills of current nursing staff; provide neonatal, pediatric and cardiac training; and focus on specialized training for nurse preceptors on hospital equipment and procedures.
Through the grant, 3,635 new and current workers will receive training, which began in August and lasts for 12 months.
