Waco, Tx — Dozens of Central Texans gathered in Waco Friday afternoon to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Waco NAACP chapter hosted the tenth annual wreath laying ceremony with members of the community, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Around a dozen wreaths, that had been brought from local churches, were displayed, along with singing, prayer, and fellowship.
"II's very important that everyone remember who Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was, and that he had a dream. And, his dream was not just for one race of people, but for everyone that is part of the United States of America," said Pastor Larry Brown, President of the Waco NAACP chapter.
The NAACP will also host a candlelight vigil on Monday night, in observance of the MLK holiday.
