
coryell county, tx — Charges may be filed against the man responsible for a crash that lead to the death of a Killeen man.
According to DPS report, the accident happened at 12:53 p.m. on Tuesday, in Coryell County, outside of Gatesville. A blue Ford Pickup, F-20, was traveling westbound on County Road 248. The pickup then reportedly disregarded a stop sign and collided with a Chevrolet 2008 Express Cargo van, headed southbound on FM 215. The cargo van then rolled several times before the driver was ejected.
JP Coy Latham pronounced the driver of the van, Lloyd Jay Bennett, 62, of Killeen dead on the scene. Bennett was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the blue pickup truck was 18-year-old Kevin Cupps.
The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed yet.
"We do not suspect alcohol or drugs," said Sergeant Steven Stanfield of Temple Highway Patrol.
Cupps could face charges, depending on the outcome of the investigation.
