Waco, Tx — Thursday, the Heart of Texas Homeless Coalition, along with other agencies, came together for the Annual Project Homeless Connect event.
Around 200 people came from around the Waco area, receiving free dental and vision screenings, haircuts, HIV testing, clothing give-a-ways, and more. The event is designed to provide hope and help those who are experiencing homelessness to get on the road to recovery.
"It's something that's always encouraging to be in a place to be able to provide some help and see those who are not just willing to come but also really appreciate those that put in the time to try and provide services that can help them out where they are," said Waco VA Hospital Social Worker, Mike Ormsby, who is also a member of the Heart of Texas Homeless Coallition.
The event is held each year and planning for next year has already begun.
