Marlin, TX — A Central Texas police officer is back on the job, after being out for a few months, following a near fatal accident in November that left him hospitalized in critical condition.
According to DPS Spokesman, D.L. Wilson, the Marlin Police Chief, Darrell Allen, was headed home at 2:30 a.m. on November 16, from an off-duty assignment. Allen was traveling southbound on Highway 6, north of Marlin, near County Road 121. For reasons unknown at this time, Allen's 2004 Ford Explorer left the roadway before rolling over numerous times and ejecting him from the vehicle.
Allen was taken by Capital EMS to Hillcrest Hospital. Allen has been the police chief in Marlin for four years.
On Monday, November 26, Allen was released from the hospital and admitted to a rehabilitation facility to further treat his injuries.
