BRYAN, Tx (KYLE) — Your commute to work may have taken longer than normal this morning because an accident in Bryan shut down the northbound lanes of Highway 6 for several hours.
According to Bryan police just before 7:30 Wednesday morning, 33-year-old Jason Shiller, was driving his motorcycle northbound on Highway 6 near Harvey Mitchell Parkway when he lost control for an unknown reason and thrown about 25 feet away from the bike.
Shiller was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries and police say he wasn't wearing a helmet.
"Helmets are very important," said Officer Kelley McKethan. "They do help in a collision to prevent you from a head injury and it can save lives."
Traffic was re-routed to the North Earl Rudder Freeway while the highway was closed but it re-opened after three hours.
The investigation continues.
