Waco, TX — A pro-life memorial which was vandalized in late January has now been rebuilt- this time with a little more security.
In the early morning hours on Sunday, January 27, a riding mower ran over and destroyed 600 crosses at Rachel’s Memorial- a pro-life park on North 19th Street in Waco.
Since then, people from the area and even across the country dedicated money, time and effort to not only rebuild the memorial, but to try and prevent further attacks.
The crew installed wooden posts deep in the ground to thwart potential vandals.
"I guess the silver lining in it is we saw more people respond. It broke their hearts. They were outraged about what took place. And you know, that’s a proper response and we were grateful to see that happen," said Rev. Rusty Thomas, founder of the memorial.
A re-dedication ceremony will be held this Sunday for the 13-year-old park.
