Bryan, TX (KWKT) — An alleged drunk driver was arrested after causing a mutiple-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Bryan.
Shortly after 7:00 a.m. on March 21, Bryan police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Brompton and Harrow Court. When officers arrived on scene, they found two men asleep in a truck parked in the middle of the street. When police woke the men, the driver, Garrett Finke, 21, of Washington, and Richard Shawn George, 21, of Willis, sped away in their truck. Authorities did not chase the suspects due to being in a residential area. The only exit was by Sam Houston Elementary.
The men headed west on Caterbury Drive when Finke drove into oncoming traffic and collided head on with another car. The car was pushed back into two more vehicles causing a four-car pile up.
The driver of one of the cars was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries, while a five-year-old passenger was later taken to the hospital by personal vehicle for non-life threatening injuries.
Finke was charged with evading arrest and detention with a vehicle, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, driving with an invalid license and unlawful use of a criminal instrument. George was was charged with unlawful use of a criminal instrument and public intoxication.
Finke's bail was set at $11,000. George's was set at $3,450.
