Killeen, TX — A Central Texas man has been charged with murder after a Saturday shooting claimed the life of a Killeen woman.
Killeen Police responded to shots fired at around 11:14 p.m Saturday at 502 Esther Circle.
Witnesses said a man and woman were arguing outside.
The female left the altercation and came back with a group of people. One of them started shooting at the male resident who ran back into his house.
The shooter followed him into the residence and continued firing shots at point-blank range.
After the shooter left, the man saw that his mother had been fatally shot.
Veronica Denise Avant, 48, was pronounced dead at 3:28 a.m at Carl R. Darnell Army Medical Center.
Round Rock Police arrested Harry Alvin Parsons, 27, who was charged him with murder.
A picture of Parsons is being withheld at this time.
The shooting was Killeen’s third murder of the year.
