Waco, TX — If you live or drive around Waco, you probably have seen Aric Smith, otherwise known as 'The Cross Guy.'
For the past five years, Smith has carried his custom, 12-foot tall wooden cross all over town.
Supported by friends and family, Smith said the cross is obviously a symbol of Christianity, but it has become a vessel for him to spread, what he calls, the love and word of god.
From Haiti to Asia, Aric has taken the cross all over the world.
Numerous names and scriptures cover the cross, which luckily has a wheel attached to make his job a little easier.
“Right now I’m trying to do a 50-day walk on Valley Mills," said Smith. "And, since it’s the summer, I’m trying to hit the pavement pretty early. I get up around 5:30 a.m, get out by 5:45 a.m. and I’ll do it until about 8 o’clock.”
Smith, 34, was born and raised in Waco.
He says to honk the next time you see him and his cross.
