Officers and firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 1204 E. Ave. E at 11:40 a.m., on Friday.
Upon their arrival they found the top of the Killeen Housing Authority Moss Rose apartment building engulfed in flames. The residents were evacuating as the first responders arrived and all residents were accounted for.
The Killeen Fire Department responded with two ladder trucks and three engines; firefighters spent approximately two hours extinguishing the fire. Approximately 20 residents were displaced and the American Red Cross was at the scene to assist those residents.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time as this case continues to be investigated; information will be released as it becomes available.
