Temple, Texas (KWKT) — Temple police are investigating a disturbance where one man was arrested and a Temple lady was killed Tuesday morning.
56-year-old Royce Reeve, was taken into custody without incident after officers found him hiding in a tunnel under the road.
Authorities responded to an incident at The Kensington Apartments, located in the 400 block Fryer’s Creek Drive around 12:08 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers could see the victim, Autumn Alaine Reeves, 35, of Temple, lying in the front room of her apartment. The officers forced entry into the apartment and initiated emergency first aid and CPR. The officers’ efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace G.W. Ivey.
An autopsy was order which will be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and suspect were involved in a domestic disturbance when the offense took place.
Officers initiated a search of the area in an attempt to locate the suspect. As officers conducted the search, they located several items with blood on them. The trial lead officers toward a drainage ditch near the complex. While following the trail officers located several other items with blood, including a knife that is believed to be the murder weapon.
The case, the third homicide reported to the Temple Police Department, will be reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.
