Temple,TX — A longtime local fire chief has announced his retirement.
Chief Lonzo Wallace of Temple Fire and Rescue will be stepping down on October 17.
He’s been chief for the past 13 years.
Before that, Wallace, 60, spent nearly 27 years with the Fort Worth Fire Department.
So all in all, we’re talking 40 years of public service.
Among his long list of accomplishments, Wallace is a master firefighter, an inspector, a fire instructor and a hazardous material technician.
No word yet who will replace him as chief.
