Hewitt, TX — Hewitt Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of two sets of human skeletal remains this weekend.
According to police, on September 6, at approximately 7:16 p.m., the Hewitt Police Department was called to the 100 block of Bridle Trail in Hewitt in reference to the discovery of human skeletal remains. The caller directed the officers to a heavily wooded area, adjacent to his property, where officers confirmed that many of the remains were of human origin. Officers secured the location until a proper search could be conducted of the crime scene.
On September 7, at 7:00 a.m., Hewitt Police Officers and detectives, with the assistance of the DPS Crime Lab, began to conduct a crime scene search of the area when a second set of skeletal remains were located in close proximity to the area of the initial report.
The remains from both areas were collected and will be sent to Dallas for further forensic testing. So far, the race, gender, age, and manner of death for both sets of remains is undetermined.
This case remains open and is being actively pursued.
