THIBODAUX, LA (NBC33) — A 22-year-old man was arrested after he was found “cuddled up and sleeping” in the back of a vehicle that was not his.
“The vehicle owner’s son walked out to find the suspect sleeping in the back of the vehicle,” David Melancon, Thibodaux Police Department, said. “When questioned by officers, he claimed he didn’t know how he got there.”
What officers learned is that the suspect, Thomas Werth, went out on Thursday, Oct. 10 to a bar in downtown. After having too much to drink, he made the responsible choice to walk home.
“Officers did not find a vehicle in the area,” Melancon said. “When they woke him, he asked if he was around Lafourche Drive, which is located on the opposite side of town.”
Although he doesn’t remember what happened, police believe he became lost and decided to take a rest in the unlocked vehicle.
Werth was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespassing.
