Waco, TX — Baylor gave its third tour of the new Baylor Stadium Wednesday and the progress inside has come a long way in just the past few months since the last one.
Jim Heley, the project manager, said the stadium is exactly 46% complete.
The structure of the 45,000 seat stadium is at 70% complete and the precast phase is about 80% complete.
450 to 500 workers are on the construction site six days a week.
The $250 million stadium is set to open in time for the first home game of the 2014 season and Heley said they are right where they want to be.
“We’re on the timeline to be ready for the first football game next year. I’m happy to say that. There’s no other option really. If we were asked if we would like to be in this position a year ago, then yes, we would have loved to be in this position. We’re right where we need to be.”
The recent rains did delay construction for a little bit, but they say the rain has also kept the dirt moist which is ideal when moving earth.
