belton, tx — If you and the family are looking for some holiday fun Friday, you'll want to check out the "Family, Fishing, and Fun" event in Belton.
Each year, the city stocks Nolan Creek with rainbow trout so that fishers, young and old, can come out and try their hand at baiting in a catch. Last year, more than 100 people participated. Just in case you were wondering, you don't need to have a fishing license for this event. Prizes will also be awarded to kids who catch the longest fish.
"One of the reasons that we do this in Belton every year is that we believe families make strong communities. And, we want to be a strong community," said Belton City Spokesman Paul Romer.
The festivities take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Nolan Creek, which is located just behind city hall.
