McGREGOR, TX — Monday night, the city of McGregor passed a new ordinance which is expected to keep registered sex offenders from living near places where children often gather.
The ordinance says that sex offenders can't live within 1,000 feet of schools, parks, and daycares. This rule can't make sex offenders who currently live near those areas move, but it can prevent new offenders to town from moving nearby.
Within the last two weeks, the police department says six sex offenders have moved into town.
