Temple Police Department — Stuffed animals that will be used to provide comfort for children involved in emergency situations or crimes were donated to the Temple Police Department on Wednesday.
The donation came from members from St. Mary’s Catholic School cheer-leading team, who affectionately call themselves “The God Squad”.
“These children are dedicated to performance of kind acts for others, and to learn to give back to others” said Jessica Lucksinger, a representative of the squad said via e-mail when she contacted TPD.
Officers from the Temple Police Department’s Problem Oriented Police Services Unit previously provided training to the group about on-line safety, and the group decided to repay the kind act by taking up the collection. During their visit to the police station, the God Squad treated officers and civilian staff to a performance.
The stuffed animals collected by these young ladies will hit the beat with patrol officers, and be there to help soothe children in crisis situations.
The police department thanks the members of St. Mary’s Catholic School’s God Squad for their generous donation and greatly enjoyed the opportunity to visit with the members.
