Fort Hood, Texas (KWKT) — UPDATE: Fort Hood has resumed normal traffic flow through all installation access control points. Officials on Fort Hood initiated a prudent security measure based on a telephone call received here.
After a preliminary investigation, Fort Hood officials decided to re-open the installation. "We take force protection very seriously on Fort Hood, and will take prudent measures when necessary," said Col. Christopher Garver, III Corps Public Affairs Officer.
Original Report: Fort Hood officials have enacted security measures and shut down inbound traffic to the base.
The following statement was posted to Ft. Hood's Facebook page:
"Effective immediately, all inbound traffic into Fort Hood has been blocked at all access control points due to a potential force protection issue. All outbound traffic is flowing normally. We will update this status when appropriate."
A Fort Hood sergeant said the lockdown was caused by a threatening phone call. The sergeant could not estimate how long the lockdown will be in place.
