WACO -- New ordinances for pet owners in Waco start Wednesday.
It's part of the effort to control the dog and cat population in the area.
The controversial issue on breeding pets is included in the new ordinances.
People who have animals who can reproduce are required to buy a permit for $35 a year. Otherwise, animals must be fixed.
Breeders in the area are no longer allowed to sell animals in public places like garage sales, parking lots or flea markets. That is, unless you are an animal welfare agency.
The way you vaccinate your pet has changed too. Rabies vaccinations are now required only ever three years instead of annually.
