KILLEEN -- New details on Monday's SWAT team standoff in Killeen.
Police tell us the 24-year-old man was Ernest Bess.
Bess was being served with a sexual assault warrant when he barricaded himself in his apartment near Hereford and Elms.
SWAT teams tried to get him out of the apartment for almost five hours.
Negotiators sent a phone into the apartment to speak with Bess but made no contact.
That's when they fired chemical agents into the apartment to get him out but with no success.
"When they deploy the chemical agents that's usually when it kind of draws people out because of the gas, and it didn't draw him out this time. So we went in, once we checked everything else out, we went in, we were able to take him into custody," said Carroll Smith with Killeen Police Department.
The SWAT team eventually found Bess in another apartment in the same building and arrested him.
They think Bess cut through the wall to get into the other apartment or crossed through the attic.
Bess faces felony charges for motion to revoke probation for sexual assault. Police say more charges will likely be added.
