WACO -- McLennan Community College received more than $1 million Wednesday from the Texas Workforce Commission. The money will be used to train workers for four companies in Waco.
Tatex, Coca-Cola, Cargill and Texas Machine Tool will use MCC's experts to train employees in specific areas.
"We can become a more viable, not only engineering source, but a source of what I would call high end, highly technical employment for the Waco area," said Mike Sullivan with Texas Machine Tool.
Workforce Commissioner Ronny Congleton says there are still thousands in Waco looking for work, and this money is expected to create nearly one thousand new jobs in the area.
