A helicopter, SWAT team, K-9 unit and Waco and Hewitt Police. No, it's not the scene of a crime, it's Spring Valley Elementary.
"It's a bit awesome," one student said.
"It was pretty exciting, we've never had something like it," another student said.
Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country.
And Officer Sofie Martinez, who's been participating for 8 years now, says they want to give students a better idea of what they do.
"This way they see that we're there for them, we work for them, to protect them so that they're in a safe environment, and that we're approachable and that we're people just like them," Martinez said.
As for the student's take on today's event?
"No taking drugs, that no drinking and driving, no smoking... just leave it alone... kind of like a dead bird," 4th grader Seven Tang said.
