BRYAN -- Brazos County investigators are searching for up to five men who they believe stole a vehicle, broke into the Great Texas Gun Store in Bryan and stole more than eighty guns from the shop.
It's a birthday William Farris, owner of the Great Texas Gun Store, will never forget but not in a good way.
"What a birthday wish. I was actually hunting with my son when I was awakened with the phone call from the alarm company. "
Outside surveillance video shows it took the three suspects almost an hour to break into the side of the building but only took them less than two minutes to steal 80 guns.
Sheriff Kirk says the robbers took an array of weapons, "Some of those guns were semi-automatic assault rifle and some long guns."
Thanks to good record keeping, officials know every make, model and serial number of each gun stolen but Sheriff Kirk and owner William Farris say they're still worried about where these guns might end up.
"This business was established as a hunting and fishing business for my clients, not as a place for folks like the ones that stole these firearms to come get guns to commit crimes," said Farris.
Kirk added, "Guns have a way of disappearing. Out on the streets they're very highly sought after commodity."
Sheriff Kirk says he's confident in the way this case is progressing and hopes to be able to recover each gun stolen before it gets into the wrong hands.
