KILLEEN, TX — Killeen Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon, just after 2:00 p.m.
Officers responded to a 911 call at 2:12 p.m., telling them a crash had just occurred in the 400 block of South Fort Hood Street, involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. The officers arrived to find a 37-year-old male lying in the roadway.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on South Fort Hood Street, just north of Hallmark. A white Dodge Charger was pulling out of a parking lot in the 400 block of south Fort Hood Street, attempting to make a left turn to travel southbound. The operator of the motorcycle struck the rear of the Charger near the center turn lane. After the impact, the motorcycle operator was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the northbound lanes of Fort Hood Street. A white and red Honda Civic traveling northbound was unable to avoid operator in the roadway, causing the vehicle to run over him. The male was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Timothy Laurence Singletary, a Fort Hood soldier, was pronounced deceased at 2:41 p.m. by medical authorities at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
The Killeen Police Department Traffic Division continues to investigate this crash and information will be released as it becomes available.
