McGREGOR, TX — SpaceX successfully tested their new Grasshopper Rocket at its McGregor facility earlier this month.
The rocket is ten stories tall and lifted itself nearly 30 feet in the air for roughly eight seconds.
The Grasshopper Rocket is their first impression in trying to create reusable rockets.
The California-based company said the reusable rocket program is a ‘critical step’ in space exploration’s future.
SpaceX wants to allow rockets to land back to Earth intact, rather than burning up in the atmosphere as they currently do in re-entry.
