Texas housing market recovers, economy strengthening

A new report suggests the Texas housing market has recovered,  indicating that the Texas economy is getting stronger.

On Thursday, the Texas Quarterly Housing Report was released, showing sustainable housing recovery. Waco real estate agency, Fuller Realtors, says 200 more homes have been sold in the city alone, since January, as compared to the same time frame last year.

The Texas quarterly report also shows Waco home sales have increased by nearly 24 percent since last year.

"We're starting to see some builders come out and build some more spec homes that we haven't seen. And, usually, builders give us an indicator on the housing market. When we see more homes being built, that lets us know that our economy is picking up and that people are out there buying," said Celina Fuller, owner of Fuller Realtors.

This is the fifth consecutive quarter for improved results in Texas real estate.
