Salvation Army readies themselves for next 48 hours

Food donation and free Thanksgiving meal

Tuesday, November 20, 2012 - 7:57pm

Thanksgiving is less than 48 hours away and Salvation Army wants you to know that there is a plate of hot food for you and your family if you can't make it work on your own.

The food pantry also needs help restocking its shelves, specifically with canned meats and vegetables.

If families need help they can stop by a Salvation Army to pick items up.

If you and your family need a hot meal altogether on Thursday the Salvation Army will be hosting a Thanksgiving lunch and dinner for those interested.

"There are no qualifications for this. If you are hungry and want a Thanksgiving meal, we invite you to the Community Kitchen to have that meal,” said Heather Helton from Salvation Army.

“You are going to get turkey, stuffing and all the sides that go with it. You are going to get pie and you'll have great fellowship with other people from the community and lots of volunteers."

The Community Kitchen is at 300 Webster in Waco.

Lunch will be served from 11AM to 2PM and dinner is from 530PM to 630PM.
