Waco city leaders and developers looking to shape riverfront property near downtown Waco

Nearly 16 acres are up for development, as a part of a riverfront development, called the Brazos Commons Project, being proposed in Waco.

The city, along with the Downtown Development Corp are seeking a master developer to help shape their vision for a multi-use complex that connects the expanding downtown Waco area to the river, the convention center, and up to I-35, near the new Baylor stadium. Leaders hope to incorporate new destination restaurants, with more hotels, and a variety of residential, commercial, and retail opportunities along the riverfront walkway.

"What we're expecting is that we'll be surprised and excited by the concepts that developers bring us. And, we're expecting wide variety in what those conceptual plans look like," said Megan Henderson, Executive Director of the Downtown Development Corporation.

Proposals are being accepted until June 12. After that, the proposals will be reviewed for an interview process.
The community will get a chance to share their opinions on the designs down the road.
