Shards of glass and crushed bottle caps litter the parking lot of Club Alazan, a popular bar in Waco. But, with notoriety also comes run-ins with the law.

"Generally, they're the same type of calls at nightclubs or alcohol-related establishments," said Sergeant Patrick Swanton of the Waco Police Department.

In the past year alone, Waco police have responded to 17 assaults, five public intoxications, and 16 other calls. Then, last month, a man was stabbed to death after leaving the club. So, TABC reached an agreement with the club owner to revoke its liquor license, essentially shutting it down.

Waco Police Department is still seeking the public's help in figuring out what actually took place at the club on October 14 and who all was involved in the fatal stabbing.

"If it gets to the point where we're shutting or helping assist shutting a club down, that's a sign of problems for our community," said Swanton.

The police department did not have any say in the decision to shut the club down. However, they're generally the ones who have to help with things go bad.

"We have problem hotspots all over Waco that we're aware of that we work on to try and alleviate the problem," said Swanton.

The club will surrender its license in early January.
